• Same Storm, Different Boat

I heard a quote the other day that really stood out to me. It said: “WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME STORM, BUT NOT IN THE SAME BOAT.” Damn isn’t that true!? Especially in the midst of the chaos these days. The rain is relentlessly pouring down on us all, yet we have no idea the severity for each individual. Someone may have had years of practice, others may have a hole in the bottom of their boat…a broken sail…! Who knows? In my opinion, it is not right for a man on a big fancy cruise ship to criticize the man on a paddle boat. They are not even…

  • Let’s Stay Connected

I’m scared, y’all… I’ll be honest, the thought of losing you freaks me out! Let me explain: Last week, Instagram had a bit of a hiccup in it’s system. I’m not totally sure why or what happened, but I noticed lots of accounts being affected. We were randomly losing highlights on our profile, and stories were being deleted! It was driving me crazy and just sort of an annoying “first world” problem. Then I realized…my eggs are ALL in one basket! If (god forbid) Instagram/Facebook were to shut down tomorrow, I’d lose YOU! How would I be able to talk to my friends anymore?? How would I keep those relationships…

  • We’re All In This Together

I’m not the first to say it, and I know I won’t be the last…but this month has been WILD! I’ve been in a brain fog and at an utter loss for words for the last week now. Trying desperately to understand it all and find some sort of normalcy amongst the chaos and uncertainty. Life as we knew it seems to be a faint memory now, and it feels like we’re living in a false reality or something. I love the airport analogy that I keep seeing on social media about how nothing makes sense…time doesn’t exist…there are no rules… It’s just blowing my mind how fast things escalated!…

  • Be Kind

“In a world where you can be anything, BE KIND.” Such a basic quote with such powerful words, am I right? I’m sure you’ve seen in the headlines about Caroline Flack passing away on Saturday… I didn’t know much about her personally, nor am I coming here to make this a controversial conversation; but hearing the news really hit something deep inside of me. I saw an article that spoke about her retweeting that quote along with the movement #BeKind. My heart broke when I read that… Sadly, Caroline took her own life last weekend, because she was hurting. Hurting so deeply inside, yet even in her time of pain,…

  • Family Bond

There’s a small white pillow on my grandma’s couch; it has red stitching that says, “OUR FAMILY IS A CIRCLE OF STRENGTH AND LOVE. WITH EVERY BIRTH AND UNION, THE FAMILY GROWS. EVERY OBSTACLE FACED TOGETHER MAKES THE CIRCLE STRONGER. EVERY JOY SHARED MAKES MORE LOVE.” This pillow has been here for a while, but I’ve only recently taken notice of it. Since moving back home from North Carolina, I’ve lived with my grandma, and we’ve become pretty great friends let me tell ya. Not only do we share a birthday, but we also share a love for Panera salads and The Bachelor! So when she got admitted to the…

  • Daily Affirmations

Socrates said, “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” Repeatedly tearing down our minds and bodies does not heal the wounds, it only deepens them. When we take the time to commit ourselves to change and growth, we will become stronger. It’s so much easier said than done, but it truly begins in OUR hearts & OUR minds first. When we believe in ourselves, others will too! Your possibilities are endless, but only if you take action to accomplish them. And trust me, I KNOW YOU CAN! To be honest, telling you that I talk to…

  • Body Image & Self-Love (part 2)

“Another person’s beauty is not the absence of our own.” I felt like this was a good quote to start with because today, that’s what we’re focusing on. Comparison is a nasty game to get into…no one plays fair, there’s lies, flags and fouls on the field…and the ref has to blow their whistle a few too many times. Now, I’m no sports fan, but I can promise you–that’s NOT something I want to get roped into! When we choose to compare, the one that takes the fall becomes ourselves. Teaching our minds that we are not good enough, and that someone else is “better.” Let’s face it; LIFE IS…

  • Ju$t $ay NO!

Why does the act of “saying no” tend to be such a struggle for most of us? Even when we know it’s for the best? Ugh. The human brain baffles me on the daily. In this instance, I’m most specifically talking about money. Yes, baby, I mean spending that moolah we work our asses off for! WHY CAN’T WE JUST SAY NO! (callout post @myself) I’m not going to lie to you, money is a touchyyy subject for me right now. And I know I know, talking funds is probably just as much of a mistake as bringing up politics or vaccines at Thanksgiving dinner… But you know what? I’m…

  • 2020 Word of the Year

Ohhh Myyy Goddd (said like Janice from FRIENDS)…it’s 2020! Not only are we beginning a brand new year, but an entirely new DECADE! Man oh man have times changed since good ole 2010. But that, my friend, is a story for another time. Today, I want to share with you something that’s been on my mind for a couple weeks. Something I always look forward to, and a topic we all seem to be talking about right now! Let’s talk “WORD OF THE YEAR”. Have you ever done a word of the year; where you begin in January, choosing a specific word/phrase to help set your intentions for the new…

  • Be Like Elsa & LET IT GO

Can you think of many things more peaceful than a fresh blanket of snow? Followed by the crisp wind spiraling nature’s glitter through the air. The delicate tapping of ice as it hits the tree branches and settles on the frozen ground. As if everything, for but one moment, is finally calm. Things like that will never fail to amaze me. For as long as I live, if snow is near, you better believe I will be out there watching as it falls. With the sheer happiness of a child on Christmas morning. There’s just nothing like it.  If you can’t tell, we got snow last night! Only like an…
