“Enjoy the little things in life, because one day you’ll look back, and realize they were the big things.”
Oh how this quote resonates with me. When I think about some of my most fond memories, or my favorite things about my favorite people–it always comes down to the small details. The inside jokes…the spur of the moment outings…all of the random elements that make them unique… THOSE are what mean the most to me.
Of course big things can be important too, but come on. You have to admit, it’s so much more exciting when you let yourself get captivated by the finer things life has to offer.
Perhaps you woke up early and realized that you still had a couple hours of sleep left before your alarm. Maybe you hit every green traffic light on your commute. Or even the simple joy of finding a penny heads up on the ground. Don’t tell me that stuff doesn’t put a smile on your face, even if just for a moment.
Hell, even the tagline of my website is, “The Taylor Destiny: enjoying life’s little things”. I’m always looking for the simple pleasures in every passing day, and seeking joy even when it’s difficult. After all, life is a series of tiny miracles. Do yourself a favor and notice them.
Instead of getting overwhelmed with the big picture, let’s try focusing on each single step. Taking it all one day at a time, and celebrating even the humble wins. If we’re always racing to the “next moment”, what happens to the one you’re in right now? Life is short, take in each glistening sunrise & every golden sunset that you can. You won’t regret it. I promise.
Until next time,
Stay bright eyed, darling!
