To Plan or Not to Plan

“Jump and grow wings on the way down.”

A saying that I’ve heard many times in my day.

A tactic that I learned first hand from my father.

A way of life, you could say.

To some people it might seem chaotic and stressful. But to me, it’s how I get things done. If I take too much time “prepping & planning”, I get overwhelmed and end up even further behind. Caught up in the minor details all too often. The best thing for me to do is just dive right in head first.

It’s probably the enneagram 7 in me, let’s be honest, I thrive on constant change. Keeping things the same old same old just gets BORING. I start feeling unmotivated and caught up in mundane routines (which I hatteee)! Have you felt this way? Could it be those same feelings I’ve had 157 times before?

In my mind, you don’t always need a reason, or a plan, or a precise blueprint to follow. Sometimes, the best moments come from the spontaneous decisions. I know that isn’t for everyone, but hell, you do you. Spur of the moment is not the way that I do EVERYTHING, but it sure does keep life interesting!

One of the best decisions I’ve ever made was to LET GO. Back in 2018, that was my “mantra for the new year” (even got a tattoo on my ribs that says live a little). I decided to stop being so controlling over every small aspect of my life… Adapting to new changes and figuring things out as I went. Let me tell you, I felt a literal weight off my chest in that moment.

Do some things need to be thought out and planned for? Of course! But sometimes, spontaneity is the best kind of adventure that life has to offer. Don’t take yourself too seriously, and let loose sometimes. Your stress levels will be glad you did.

Until next time,

Stay spontaneous, darling!
