We’re All In This Together

I’m not the first to say it, and I know I won’t be the last…but this month has been WILD! I’ve been in a brain fog and at an utter loss for words for the last week now. Trying desperately to understand it all and find some sort of normalcy amongst the chaos and uncertainty. Life as we knew it seems to be a faint memory now, and it feels like we’re living in a false reality or something. I love the airport analogy that I keep seeing on social media about how nothing makes sense…time doesn’t exist…there are no rules… It’s just blowing my mind how fast things escalated!

Real quick, I want to remind you that this post is not to bore you with the facts or opinions on COVID-19. There are many controversies and politics behind it all, and you know me better than that. Lord knows I have my share of thoughts, but I’ll keep them to myself for now. Writing is how I escape… How I cope… How I deal… It’s just a part of who I am and how I handle the things that life throws at me. So here I am. WRITING.

My heart has been overwhelmed the last few days with the outpouring LOVE and UNITY I’ve felt through my friends (Instagram in particular). So so many of us are joining together and supporting one another. Sharing small businesses, positivity, encouragement, distraction, and authentic HOPE that we will get through this. Of course the news and many media outlets will share how frightening and devastating this all is (not disregarding that one bit). But for people like myself, we can dwell a little too much on that and it can overtake us. I choose to surround myself with the lighthearted moments and to see the bright side in most situations. This being a major one for example.

Can we just talk about how strong our communities are right now!? Taking care of each other and providing for those in need. I saw a quote from Mister Rogers that said, “When I was a boy and would see scary things on the news, my mother would say to me, LOOK FOR THE HELPERS. YOU WILL ALWAYS FIND PEOPLE WHO ARE HELPING.” Those are the ones I’m going to give my attention to. They are who make me feel like we can get through this. Our world has been through so much, and I just pray every day that we can use this as an opportunity to get back up again and grow stronger than ever.

We are not doing this alone… I think that’s what gives me more peace of mind than anything–the fact that it’s not just us. We each have our own struggles of course, but look at how much more we all have in common at this very moment. We’re far more alike than we thought. Old, young, rich, poor, North, South, East or West. It’s affecting US ALL! So let’s use this time for good. Breathe some fresh air, do things that make you happy, and focus on the small victories each day.

I think that if anything, we will now have such a deeper appreciation for all the things we once took for granted. Call your loved ones and stay in touch–don’t isolate yourself completely. We NEED each other now more than ever. Let yourself feel all of your emotions fully, let it out, then let it go. Put your energy towards controlling the things you CAN control and leave the rest. We will heal, we will make it, and we will do so with love in our hearts and a newfound respect in our minds.

“Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.” -Le Miserables

Until next time,

Stay safe, darling!

In the midst of chaos, your post offers a refreshing breath of fresh air.

Through this, we are learning to find a new normal, to accept the fact that although we may be isolated, we are deeply connected to one another. We are learning kindness, hope, and a greater appreciation for humanity as a whole.

Keep sharing your stories. It’s another beautiful thread that helps bind us together. ❤

You just made my day! Thank you thank you! I know things are tough right now, but I think it’s so so important to see the good in all situations, even if we have to look a little harder sometimes! I really appreciate you for reading what I write. It means the world to me! xx
