Inhale the FUTURE, Exhale the PAST

Letting go is hard for me. Sometimes I find myself so caught up in the past, I forget to live in the moment. Forcing myself to remember all of the good old times and not actually realizing just how good I have it now too. For example, the year I turned 16 was one of the best summers of my life. Fast forward to my Senior trip in Florida, unforgettable. Moving all the way to North Carolina with my best friend, (insane) but SO INCREDIBLE. Or when I turned 20 and launched my very own online clothing store!?  All the times I was living my best and happiest life, gone…

    It’s All About PERSPECTIVE

The moon is always full–it’s just our view that is partial. Think about it. This little thing called PERSPECTIVE can change so so much for us and our lives. (Whether we realize it or not.) Sometimes we simply do not have control over our situation, but we do have a choice on how we view it. Like I’ve preached a million and one times before: Things are not either good nor bad. They are just simply things. It’s our opinions that make them choose sides.   We’ve all been there before… Hurt or confused by something that happened to us, causing anger and frustration. But when we take a moment…

    Playing the Waiting Game

I’m the kind of person who buys a new outfit just for the hell of it, and then holds said-outfit in my closet until I find a justified reason to wear it. Allowing NO ONE else to put it on until I have had the first opportunity to show it off. Lame? Yes. Do I still do it? Also yes. But when I genuinely take a moment to think about it, what is the point? Why are we always WAITING… What for?   It seems we’re always putting things off. “I’ll work out tomorrow.. Diet starts on Monday.. See the family at Christmas.. Hang out with friends next weekend..” Come…

    The Finer Things

“Enjoy the little things in life, because one day you’ll look back, and realize they were the big things.”   Oh how this quote resonates with me. When I think about some of my most fond memories, or my favorite things about my favorite people–it always comes down to the small details. The inside jokes…the spur of the moment outings…all of the random elements that make them unique… THOSE are what mean the most to me.   Of course big things can be important too, but come on. You have to admit, it’s so much more exciting when you let yourself get captivated by the finer things life has to…

    All the Feels

Alright, everyone. The time has come… The dreaded moment is here… I’ve been pushing this topic further and further down my list of posts to write, but I think it’s finally time we talk about our FEELINGS. (ew, I know, just bear with me)   If you have had the pleasure of knowing me for any length of time whatsoever, I’m sure you’ve become aware of my distaste for regularly showing emotions. Heartless? Nah. Let’s call it “reserved”. It’s just who I am. I’m farrr more introverted than the rest of my siblings (and mother) and voluntarily talking about how I feel does not come naturally at all! Can anyone…

    L-O-V-E

There’s something about LOVE that equally excites and terrifies us all at the same time. Whether it’s a romantic love with a partner, the platonic love of a friend, or even the sincere love you have for yourself, it’s all so important.   LOVE means being open & vulnerable. Which is hard…it can be so so difficult. For some, it comes as naturally as breathing air in and out, for others (myself included) it does not! And that’s okay. If we were all wired the same, what would be the point? Choosing to let someone in on your deepest emotions, happiest memories, or darkest thoughts is a big risk. But…

    You CAN

Growing up, most families have a few choice words that their kids are not allowed to say…in our house, it was the word CAN’T. Starting from a very early age, my parents instilled hard-work and determination in their 4 little bull-headed procreations. When difficult situations arose, we were consistently taught to improvise, adapt & overcome. (any other military brats out there that can relate?)   Now, my mom & dad NEVER told us these things to be harsh, or rude, or negative. Honestly, it was just the opposite. We were raised to have high standards, and to truly never give up! Life lessons that they both inherited from their parents—it…
